Sometimes, as a photographer, you just randomly encounter huge amounts of color in the street scene. Like at this spot in Ghent, Belgium: a house with lots of green elements, brown and beige bricks, white plasterwork and a bright red bicycle path. A stunning backdrop, if you ask me.
The moment I took a picture of it, these two people passed hand in hand through the street scene. They stood out nicely against the green background and I pressed the shutter button.
As I was reviewing the photo later, I wondered who these people were and where they were going. Would they be a couple? Or rather family? Or friends? And would they go shopping? Or going out to a restaurant?
A colorful setting with these two people as the defining moment, or "moment décisif" as famed French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson once said. I love to keep looking at this. Do you?
