This image shows the influence of the zodiac on the human body. A naked man and woman are depicted in the centre; astrological signs are placed on their bodies (Cancer on the chest, Scorpio on the genitals, etc.). Surrounding them is a circle with zodiac symbols and Latin texts. This reflects medieval medical astrology: the cosmos and humans as mirror images. The style is related to illumination traditions such as those of the Limburg brothers: flat use of colour, gold accents, clear lines. It is science, religion and mysticism in one image — typical of the late medieval worldview in which heaven and body were inextricably linked.
