About "Cornmill the Windotter - I"

About the artwork

Standing on the southern corner of the ramparts of old IJsselstein, the silhouette of Windotter Mill dating from 1732, together with those of the two churches, characterise the image of the fortified town. The mill is also a dynamic working industrial monument. Some 1000 kg per day are milled. The sails are 26 metres in diameter. In the mill, wheat is milled into whole wheat flour and flour is sieved into flour. Rye, barley, oats, spelt, maize and buckwheat are also milled there. The mill runs at least five days a week and supplies honest and traditional products to many bakers, restaurants and wholesalers. In addition, everyone is welcome in the mill store where a large assortment of mill products can be found.

This mill is one of the largest in the Netherlands and has been fully operational since its restoration in 1987. Miller Maarten Dolman, master of the traditional corn millers' guild, runs the mill together with his wife Lia and many volunteers. He is one of forty professional millers in the Netherlands, a craft that has been on the Unesco World Heritage List since 2017.

As a contemporary IJsselstein mill company, the Windotter is the oldest and most traditional company in IJsselstein.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
