The former Van Nelle factory on the Delfshavense Schie in Rotterdam is considered to be the premier industrial monument in the Netherlands. As such, it was also recognized worldwide when it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2014.[1] The former factory of the Van Nelle company, designed by Leendert van der Vlugt of the architectural firm Brinkman & Van der Vlugt in collaboration with structural engineer Jan Wiebenga, is a textbook example of the new building.
The Van Nelle Factory accommodates a variety of companies. A number of rooms are also used for meetings, congresses and events. The complex is not open to tourists, but groups can visit the building with a guide.
