About ‘Composition VII, Piet Mondrian - 1913’
Tableau No. 2/Composition No. VII
Pieter Cornelis (Piet) Mondriaan (Amersfoort, March 7, 1872 - New York, February 1, 1944) was a Dutch painter and art theorist, who later on lived and worked abroad. Mondriaan is generally regarded as a pioneer of abstract and non-figurative art. Especially his later geometric-abstract work, with its characteristic horizontal and vertical black lines and primary colours, is world-famous and serves as a source of inspiration for many architects and designers of applied arts. He was one of the most important contributors to the magazine De Stijl.
