The Flatiron Building, literally translated 'iron building', (originally Fuller Building) is a skyscraper in New York. It was later given its nickname as the official name. The building was built in 1902 for the Fuller Construction Company and at the time of its completion, with its height of 87 meters and 22 floors, was one of the highest early 20th century skyscrapers in the city.
The Flatiron Building is located in the Flatiron District in Manhattan, at the intersection of Broadway and Fifth Avenue.
The 'falling winds' along the sides of the building blew up the women's skirts. The place became notorious for peeping men, which is why more policemen were deployed on the streets around the building.
Colin Campbell Cooper (Philadelphia, March 8, 1856 - Santa Barbara, California, November 6, 1937) was an American painter, counted under Impressionism. He made his name mainly with his townscapes of New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, but also painted in the Netherlands and Belgium.
