Cityscape Utrecht with Jacobi Church. View from water tower Lauwerhof. Jacobi Church was originally one of the city's four medieval parish churches and has been in use by the Dutch Reformed Church, now the Protestant Church, since the Reformation. The church is first mentioned in 1173. The present building was built in the late 13th century. The church was expanded in stages between 1330 and 1460 to accommodate the ever-growing population. The oldest parts of the church date back to the 13th century, but its current form as an all stone-vaulted hall church dates back to the 15th century.
