Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg (Blåkrog, Jutland, Denmark 2 January 1783 - Copenhagen, 22 July 1853), usually referred to as C.W. Eckersberg, was a Danish painter. He was one of the founders of the Golden Age of Danish painting. In his painting, he focused on portraits, (partly historical) genre paintings and shipping paintings. In 1803, he was accepted at the Royal Danish Academy of Art.
