Chateau de Villandry during the rose season.
June is rose month and it certainly shows in these gardens.
In this photo, I chose to let the roses frame this window section of the chateau in blur so that it becomes a kind of soft framing; as if the chateau is embraced by roses.
I like the detail of the open window at the bottom centre, with the curtain that you can almost see moving in the wind. It catches your eye. What would be inside?
All castles in the Loire are on the Unesco World Heritage List, and so is Villandry.
I have visited many castles in the Loire, but this one is my personal favourite. Why? The gardens! Especially in June, when the roses bloom, these Renaissance gardens are well worth a visit.
Both the 16th-century castle and the gardens from the same period were restored to their original state in the early 20th century by Joaquin Carvallo, who bought the ruined castle and took inspiration from Italian and French Renaissance style.
This artwork is beautiful on its own, but also very nice as a triptych, together with "Roses of Villandry" (work code1751239) and "Ornement sculpté de Villandry" (work code 1757408). Together, they complement and enhance each other.
