This very bright abstract painting was created using a plasterer's tool or trowel, also known as a squeegee. The technique involves building up layer upon layer of paint, allowing a texture to develop. As the texture develops the under layers of paint partly show through the top layer of red. So here we see in particular, turquoise, royal blue and yellow. The final layer I added was a daring touch of black and I actually chose to score the canvas with the tool to create black scratch marks in homage to my cats - I have 15. Hence the title, Cat Scratch.
