Caravaggio (1571 - 1610), was an Italian painter who lived during the Baroque period. However, his work is relatively unique for the time. Caravaggio's short life was a succession of scandals. Caravaggio was a hothead with a tendency towards self-destruction and he constantly clashed with justice in Rome. He eventually fled Rome in 1606 after killing his opponent in a sword fight in defence of a woman. Source: www.wikipedia.org
