The brown-robed heidelibel has a one-year life cycle and overwinters as an egg. The eggs hatch in spring, after which the larvae develop rapidly. Hatching takes place from late May to late September, with a peak from late July to early September. On rare occasions, brown red moorhoppers may overwinter as an imago and become active again in early spring.
