The Bridge of Sighs is a bridge in the Italian city of Venice. The bridge is a connection between the Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale) and the prison. Previously, convicts had to walk across this bridge before being locked in the chilly and damp dungeons. Through the bridge's windows, the prisoners then saw daylight for the last time. The name Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri) refers to their sigh on the way to their destination.https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brug_der_ZuchtenIn the prison was once home to Casanova and Galileo Galilei.http://bit.ly/moreofmytrips Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/yettta/show, FB: www.facebook.com/donnadayettta Twitter: @yettta 550px: https://500px.com/yetta
