The Gran Madre di Dio is a Roman Catholic church in Rome dedicated to Mary, Mother of God. The church is located on the Tiber, on Piazzale Ponte Milvio, near the Milvio bridge, at the crossroads of Via Flaminia and Via Cassia.
The church was built in 1931 by order of Pope Pius XI, in memory of the fifteen hundredth anniversary of the First Council of Ephesus, where Mary's motherhood of God was established as a dogma. The church was designed by Cesare Bazzani and was completed in 1933. The church is home to a parish of the same name. The church is built in the shape of a Greek cross. The main entrance is preceded by a porch, which is crowned by a pediment resting on triangular columns. The church has a high dome, which is flanked by two small towers.
