The Bouwhuis is located on Zilverstraat in Zoetermeer and was designed by Berend J. Sybesma of Klunder Architects. The Bouwhuis is the location from which Bouwend Nederland, the lobby organisation of contractors in the Netherlands, operates.
Since 2001, I regularly photograph in the city to record architectural and urban developments. I often choose graphic forms, elements and colour accents and, in this case, very special buildings. Zoetermeer is a Gave City, because it is a fun, vibrant and interesting city for young and old to live, work and recreate in. But also cool because the city was built in accordance with the original plans of the early 1960s. Zoetermeer grew from a rural municipality of 7,000 inhabitants to a city of more than 125,000 in just 60 years. This development has given Zoetermeer a beautiful sample of post-war architecture and urban planning.
