Blue-spotted stingrays belong to the stingray family and have two venomous stingers on their tail. The upper side of their flat body is yellowish-green and bears the blue spots that give them their name. Stingrays lie on the seabed most of the time, only rarely can they be seen swimming - as here - with elegant wave-like movements of the body.
