In the Netherlands and Belgium, a number of varieties are grown as table grapes in greenhouses (the Dutch term) or in greenhouses (the Belgian term). These varieties are among others: Frankenthaler, Black Alicante, Gros Maroc, Leopold III, Royal and Emile Royal.
For outdoor cultivation in the Netherlands and Belgium usually the variety Glorie van Boskoop (Boskoop Glory) is used. However, this variety has become obsolete due to the arrival of new early maturing and mildew resistant varieties. Examples of such new varieties are: Muscat Bleu, Salomé (also known as Siramé), Nero, Ester, Osella, Galanth, Rosina and Georg. The seedless Venus variety can also be grown outdoors, but has a slightly different taste (it disappears when the grapes remain on the stick for a longer period of time). The seedless variety Glenora is rather sensitive to winter frost.
