The black ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) is a bird species from the family of the ibis and spoonbills. It is easily recognisable by its dark brown plumage, which also shows purple and green shades. It is an inhabitant of shallow wetlands and coastal areas. The bird nests mainly in trees or reed beds.
