When I saw the first pictures of the Herkulessäulen, I could not believe that there could be such stony giants very close in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The Upper Biela Valley was a completely forgotten place for me. I'm not alone in that, which is why somewhat fewer excursionists come here. Among climbers, however, the rock pillars, especially the Herkulessäulen, are extremely popular. There is no picture of this giants without a person scrambling up here in a spectacular way, and completely legally. Because the Bielatal is a protected landscape area and climbing area at the same time.
