Beyond Fate – A Dark Wagnerian Abstract Expression

by Peter Gozzo

While I like exploring imaginary landscapes hidden within natural stone with my camera, I started a new exploration in relation to my deep emotional encounter with Wagner's Tetralogy.

For me, Wagner's music opens a world of overwhelming emotions, where beauty and suffering, tenderness and violence, hope and despair exist side by side. There is something deeply human in this universe: the struggle against forces greater than ourselves, the weight of destiny, and the fragile moments of beauty that emerge even in the darkest circumstances.

I am particularly drawn to the tragic love of Siegmund and Sieglinde, caught between divine will and an inevitable fate they cannot control.

Through these compositions, I seek to translate what I feel when listening to this music into visual forms, textures and contrasts. Rather than illustrating the opera, I explore its emotional landscape: its darkness, its turmoil, its overwhelming intensity, and those rare flashes of light when love and beauty briefly transcend suffering.

Above all, I hope these works allow others to experience something of what Wagner's music makes me feel: the beauty of the ephemeral, the pain of what cannot last, and the extraordinary power of art to make us feel deeply.
