About the artwork
In this work, I explore the power of contrast and stillness. The vertical line that seems to cut the image in two - an encounter between saturated blue and intense yellow - was created while walking past an abandoned factory hall, where old layers of paint and weathered surfaces no longer hid their history.
I was struck by how colour and form could speak without words. With minimal means, I wanted to capture maximum expressiveness: a sense of tension and balance, of rawness and serenity.
The atmosphere is hushed, almost meditative. The work is akin to minimalism and the colour field painting of artists like Barnett Newman and Ellsworth Kelly, in which colour itself becomes the bearer of emotion.
What makes this work special is that it does not fill space, but opens it up. It invites one to stand still - not as escape, but as deepening. As a work of art on the wall, it acts as a window to inner peace as well as sensory acuity.
It does not immediately reveal itself, which is precisely why it remains fascinating. Every glance is a new encounter. The work does not demand attention, but deserves it all the more.
