What at first glance looks like a solar eclipse or a distant planet in space is actually the result of a creative photographic technique: polar distortion. Here, a panorama is distorted in such a way that completely new visual worlds are created from familiar landscapes. Lines merge, colours run into each other and an ordinary motif is transformed into a cosmic-looking work of art.
It is precisely this playful use of perspective that makes photography so exciting. It not only shows us what the world is like, but also how it can appear - mysterious, magical, almost extraterrestrial. The strong silhouette in the centre, framed by glowing traces of light, creates an almost meditative calm.
