The baroque Neptune Fountain near Alexanderplatz is one of the most beautiful fountains in Berlin. It stands on the open space between St Mary's Church and the Red Town Hall.
The Rotes Rathaus is the seat of the Governing Mayor and the Senate of Berlin.
The eye-catching building is also a well-known landmark of the city. The building near Alexanderplatz does not get its name from its political orientation, but from the bright red brick façade.
The Red City Hall was built between 1861 and 1869 according to the designs of Hermann Waesemann.
