Benediktsplatz is located at the southern entrance to the Krämerbrücke, one of Erfurt's most famous landmarks. The bridge itself is a medieval structure with continuous buildings - unique in Europe. The square in front of it forms a kind of threshold between the hustle and bustle of the old town and architectural history.
My intention was to capture this transition photographically - reduced to form, light and space. The black and white aesthetic emphasises the timeless quality of the location and draws the eye to the composition.
The atmosphere is calm, almost contemplative. The image conveys a sense of emptiness that is not desolate, but open to interpretation - a moment of stillness in the midst of urban history.
In an interior, this work acts as a calm counterpoint. It brings depth, structure and a touch of urban poetry to both modern and classic spaces.
