Along the wide banks of the Nile in Murchison Falls National Park lies one of Africa's oldest and most intriguing predators: the Nile crocodile. With its rough skin, yellow eyes and slow, calculated movements, it seems at one with the water. For hours he lies motionless in the sun, until suddenly a short, explosive movement reveals his true power.
Murchison crocodiles live in an environment where water, light and life come together. Sharing their habitat with hippos, waterfowl and fish, they are an essential part of the river ecosystem. When the sun is low, their bodies cast long shadows across the surface of the water - images that recall Africa's primeval days.
This photo collection captures the strength, stillness and primal power of the Nile crocodile: close-ups of skin and eyes, patterns of light on the water, and scenes where the line between calm and menace blurs. A tribute to an animal that symbolises the timeless soul of the Nile.
