About the artwork

A beach tent or beach pavilion is a building on or near the beach. Beach tents serve for catering or as a shop where beach supplies are sold or rented, such as beach chairs. Beach tents are usually only on the beach in the Netherlands and Belgium during the holiday season. In autumn, they are usually taken down and stored for the winter, partly to prevent storm and frost damage, and rebuilt in spring. However, there are also locations where beach tents are open all year round, and a permit is required to place and operate a beach tent. It also specifies the period during which a beach marquee may be present on the beach.[1] In almost all cases, there is a connection for mains water and electricity. This water line is often in use for public showers at the beach. Wastewater from the beach pavilion is often disposed of via a pressure pipe,[2] and if there is none, it is stored in a tank and regularly disposed of by sewer vacuum truck. A cesspool used to be dug into the sand, which also served as a death pit. Stricter environmental standards no longer allow this. source wikipedia
