On Ameland's beach, wooden poles are lined up in a straight line, partly surrounded by water, partly anchored in the sand. This image was taken during the blue hour: the moment just after sunset when colours soften and the sky takes on pastel tones.
Dunes are visible in the distance, overgrown with marram grass that gently waves with the wind. The moon is already high in the sky, silently witnessing the transition from day to night.
The combination of sleek shapes and natural lines makes this an image of tranquillity and simplicity. The rhythm of the poles versus the softness of air and sand invites one to slow down.
Ameland shows itself here in its calmest form; a place of space, rhythm and silence, caught in a moment between light and dark.
