About ‘Be Here Now: A Moment of Serenity’ by Winston Sobalvarro

In this striking mixed-media artwork, a serene woman tilts her head upward, lost in thought against a heavily textured, distressed background. The piece blends monochrome portraiture with bold, expressive brushstrokes and a vibrant burst of hot pink botanical foliage on the left, complemented by subtle yellow accents and the prominent phrase "BE HERE NOW" printed near the top.

My inspiration for this piece came from a desire to capture mindfulness and the grounding feeling of slowing down amidst a chaotic world. The artwork explores the contrast between quiet introspection and vivid, living color—reminding us to anchor ourselves in the present moment. The cool, moody tones of the charcoal and black ink create a sense of mystery, while the striking magenta branch infuses the composition with a sudden spark of energy and warmth.

Technically, the piece was built using a layered collage and painting approach, combining traditional drawing elements with mixed-media textures to give it a rich, tactile depth that draws the viewer in close.

In an interior setting, this artwork serves as a powerful yet sophisticated statement piece. It brings a modern, edgy, and reflective atmosphere to a living room, bedroom, or creative studio, fitting seamlessly into contemporary, industrial, or eclectic decors for anyone who values mindfulness and bold visual contrast.
