Bauhaus blocks, retro red and black

by TheXclusive Art

This retro red-and-black Bauhaus-style painting brings the austere beauty of modernism to life in a powerful and well-organised composition, in which rectangles and squares in vermilion red, coal black and cream come together to form a richly varied mosaic that feels bold and timeless. This distinctive artwork depicts the overlapping planes with a soft paper grain and subtle colour variations, with the tranquil texture capturing the geometry in an artistic and contemporary manner. The rust-red, deep black and ivory tones lend the piece a retro feel that subtly yet powerfully reflects the balance between order and tension. The blocks are arranged in a grid, side by side and overlapping, with the red areas scattered throughout the composition and the black and light fields in between constantly guiding the eye to choose a new path.

The strong contrast between red, black and cream makes this piece a confident choice for a modern, industrial or mid-century interior. Hung on the wall of a living room, office or dining room, it brings structure and energy, whilst above a sofa or in a long corridor, it lends the wall a graphic, artistic accent.

Fans of Bauhaus, De Stijl and minimalist design will find this painting to be a cleverly composed work that lends any space a self-assured character.
