About the artwork

As an artist, I value exploring different themes's and emotions in my works. One of my recent creations is a digital painting called "Ballerina on pointe". This work shows a graceful and gracious dancer from a backwards perspective.

In this painting, I wanted to bring together both classical and abstract elements. The ballerina dances on pointe, which is an iconic symbol of classical ballet. Her movements are elegant and her posture exudes strength and sophistication.

What makes this work interesting is the choice to depict the dancer topless. This creates a certain abstraction and brings the focus to the expression of movement and the forms of the body. It is a choice that plays with the idea of nudity and the artistic interpretation of the human body.

The setting and background of the painting are kept in the same colour tones, emphasising the dark tones that add depth and mystery to the image. The contrast between the light skin of the ballerina and the surroundings creates an intriguing interplay of light and shadow.
