Badger in the Dutch countryside on the Veluwe.
Badgers do not often show themselves during the day.
The badger has a distinctive coat pattern: the cover hairs on its back are white at the base, followed by a black band and white at the tip. The upper side of the animal thus appears grey in colour. The underside and legs are black with brown hairs often on the belly. The head, ear tufts and the tip of the tail are white. On the head, two broad black stripes run from the snout through the eyes to the ears and the back of the head.
