When the nights are getting cold in this mountain area in France and the sun is still very strong, you can come across these kinds of magical conditions in which the rising sun all of a sudden hits a clear lake and within seconds fog starts to build up and reveals and hides things from sight from moment to moment. In this case the fog became very luminous being lit from behind and it created an arch over birch tree and tiny pine tree with autumn foliage on a small island in this lake. The background became obscure except for a few tress with autumn foliage which stood out from the surrounding pine trees. Another image from this series is Afloat, which is also available in my shop
