Deep in the Veluwe landscape lies a world where silence still truly exists. This photograph captures one such moment when nature, light and season come together in an almost picturesque scene. A sandy path winds quietly into the forest, accompanied by stately trees that bend their branches over the road like a natural arch. It is as if the path invites you to walk further, deeper into the landscape.
The early morning mist softens the contours of the forest and creates a gentle layering between the trees. This creates an almost dreamlike atmosphere in which distances fade and colours subtly blend into one another. The leaves show the first signs of autumn: shades of gold, ochre and warm red mingle with the deep green of the moss covering the tree trunks. On the ground, a carpet of fallen leaves forms a natural contrast to the light sandy path.
What makes this place special is the tranquillity it exudes. No hustle and bustle, no rush — just the rustling of leaves and the soft muffling of sound by the mist. It is a landscape that invites you to slow down. Every step along this path seems to become part of the rhythm of the forest itself.
The Veluwe is known for its vast nature reserves, where forests, heathlands and sand drifts alternate. Yet it is often these simple forest paths that best reveal the essence of the area: pure nature, timeless and undisturbed.
This photo brings that feeling indoors. It is an image that radiates tranquillity and gives space to the imagination. Look at it and you can almost hear the soft crunch of leaves under your feet as the path slowly disappears into the mist.
Photography has been my passion since 1975. Whereas in the past I often photographed people, I now mainly focus on photographing landscapes, nature and animals.
