11-10-2024 there was a strong solar storm going on (G4) in the Netherlands. After much deliberation and looking at as many as 5 different weather apps, we made the decision to drive to West Friesland. During the drive, we found a beautiful mill perfectly exposed to the north. Once we arrived, this choice proved even better, as the sails were also pointing straight at us. After hours of waiting, during which northern lights were visible but no pillars yet, it suddenly happened. The sky got greener and greener and then the moment was there. From west to east, the pillars rose above our heads in different colours. The pillars were visible to the naked eye including the colour they were. I have never experienced this before in the Netherlands. Even in May this year, the colours were not visible to the naked eye. I didn't think twice and immediately started shooting a panorama.
