An imposing owl is seen in this extraordinary photograph. The two eyes in this portrait stare at you penetratingly. The owl portrait exudes wisdom and strength.
The owl photographed is an eagle owl (Bubo bubo). The eagle owl is one of the largest owls in the world, growing to between 60 and 70 centimetres. So you can safely call that an imposing bird!
For me, owls are special birds. They are mainly active at night and therefore also have a mysterious character. With their large, often brightly coloured eyes, they can see perfectly well in the dark. And if you can also turn your head all the way around, you can see all the danger and also see where you can find some goodies!
I photographed this owl myself and was able to watch it up close. Very special when he looks at you and you wonder what is going on in the owl's head at that moment. It was an unforgettable encounter!
I combined the photo of the owl with a photo that is a mix of natural materials found in the forest (bark, leaves and stone).
The final photo was digitally edited. The entire image consists of cubes and bars, creating depth. When you take a closer look at this photo, you see how special the pattern is and marvel at how all these cubes and sticks together form this artistic and picturesque owl portrait.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
