In a special way, this amazing migratory bird can hover silently above the water. It is looking for a fish or other small aquatic animals. It travels great distances to get to its breeding or wintering grounds.
Nature is amazing after all. This is how we can really study its flight because the common tern itself has mastered the art of flight. Many photo's it took.
I keep looking at it and made a whole series of flying birds that I called 'Art of Flight'.
The bird, which also breeds in the Netherlands, is found inland near puddles or an island in freshwater where it lays its eggs in a clump of grass. If you are too curious, it will skim over your head. The blue sky graces the scene.
