African Swallowtail kites sleep en masse in a place with trees.
The roosting trees consist of Baobabs and stretch over hundreds of metres.
The little falcons are found on the savannahs of Senegal and many other African places with semi-desert .
There are plenty of insects like grasshoppers here in Senegal.
Its pretty tail gives it a bit the appearance of a swallow as it flies by.
While praying he tries to catch his prey.
At the time of our visit to the area in Senegal, we found many thousands of the birds sitting as bunches side by side on the branches on Baobabs.
You can feast your eyes watching them come in to their roost like that.
There were also tens of thousands of Lesser Kestrels from Europe who found this a good roost and perched on the branches of other trees nearby.
The experience was unspeakably beautiful.
The birds were quite approachable and unafraid.
Walking along under the trees I came across the burrows of Hyenas which in turn visited us at night .
So the island was well protected I would argue.
This collage is therefore unique and no two will be found.
