This four-part series explores the dynamics of observation and how our perception changes as we move closer to a subject. Starting with a still life featuring a vase and various elements, the three following variations show increasingly larger sections of the same composition. This is more than a simple enlargement: with each step forward, the spatial arrangement shifts subtly, elements slightly change their position or proportion. These shifts reflect how our attention becomes selective when we look more closely – we focus on certain details while others disappear from our field of vision or lose significance. The series makes the act of seeing itself the subject and shows that proximity does not only mean enlargement, but a reorganisation of what is perceived.
The minimalist and organic shapes with their reduced silhouettes create a calm, timeless atmosphere. The earthy colour palette of warm beige, ochre yellow, dark red and anthracite creates a harmonious overall impression. The vase with its rounded shape is the central element, complemented by stylised leaves and flowers and abstract shapes, somewhere between decorative and architectural.
The arrangement of the four images in a grid – separated by narrow lines – emphasises the serial nature of the artwork and invites the viewer to trace the subtle changes from image to image.
The image suits various interior design styles and is suitable for any room. The images can also be found as individual artworks in my shop under the codes: 862480, 1339080, 1339083, 1339262.
