The Apache attack helicopter (AH-64) was originally designed to disable tanks and other (armoured) ground targets. In practice, the helicopter is very widely deployable thanks to its broad weapon package and advanced (observation) equipment.
The Royal Netherlands Air Force uses the AH-64 for various tasks such as:
acting as an armed scout, protecting ground troops and transport helicopters; disabling (armoured) ground targets, such as tanks, command and radar posts and artillery positions, escorting convoys and guarding and shielding areas.
