About ‘Angel statue on the Ponte Sant'Angelo in Rome’ by Thomas Bugdoll

On the right bank of the Tiber rises the almost 2000-year-old Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome.
Castel Sant'Angelo was originally built as the tomb of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in 139 AD. The mausoleum was eventually converted into a military fortress that protected Rome during the Middle Ages. Since then, it has served as a papal residence, a prison during the Renaissance and today as one of Rome's museums.

The ten magnificent Baroque-style angels were created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and his students, whose works still have a decisive influence on the Roman cityscape today. The angels bear all the symbols associated with the Passion story, including the cross, the crown of thorns and the lance. However, two of the statues on the bridge are only copies. The originals by Bernini are now in the church of Sant'Andrea delle Fratte. Statues of the apostles St Paul and St Peter from the mid-16th century can also be seen at the entrance to the bridge.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
