An old farm cart and a sheep pen beneath a dramatic Texel sky by KB Design & Photography (Karen Brouwer)

An old wooden farm cart stands abandoned in the characteristic landscape of Texel, with an authentic sheepfold – Lap Wambinghe’s sheepfold – in the background. A lovely walking route runs past this spot. Dark clouds are pierced by warm rays of sunshine, lending the landscape a special atmosphere. The combination of historical heritage, the vast fields and the impressive play of clouds showcases the tranquillity and beauty of this Wadden Sea island. An atmospheric landscape photograph in which nature and history come together. Further on, a storm is brewing, whilst on the other side the sun is trying to break through. The vast meadows, the wild flowers and the typical Texel sky give this photograph a peaceful, almost timeless feel. It is precisely the combination of historical heritage and the power of nature that makes this landscape so special. The threatening clouds create a sense of tension, whilst the warm sunlight softens the overall scene.

On this summer’s evening, everything fell perfectly into place: the old farm cart as the focal point, the sheep pen as a recognisable symbol of Texel, and a sky that was constantly changing. The result is an atmospheric landscape photograph that captures the tranquillity, space and beauty of the island, bringing a little piece of Texel into your home.
