This photo shows an African savannah elephant in action. The photo was taken in Etosha national park in Namibia. For hours we stood enjoying thousands of animals by a pond until suddenly a whole herd of elephants arrived in the distance. The animals around the pond got a bit nervous. Even though there was plenty of space, some elephants did not think it was enough. The elephant decided to chase the antelope and ostriches away from the pond, which led to this great photo.
In the background, you can see the arid landscape of Etosha national park. Because so little rain falls here, everything in this protected nature reserve revolves around water. So even though there was plenty, the elephants still didn't feel the need to share. Springboks run in all directions. In the distance is also a blue wildebeest, which seems to care a little less.
So a great African scene.
