The American kestrel (Falco sparverius) is a small bird of prey in the falconid family (Falconidae) found in large parts of North and South America. On the ABC islands, it is called Kinikini and on St Eustatius Killy-killy.[2] The species' scientific name was published in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus.[3] Its appearance is similar to the kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), but the latter species is a lot larger. The American falcon is the smallest falcon in North America.
