About the artwork

This hunting kingfisher comes out of the water with a fish and flies back to its vantage point. Composite image made from two other images.

The kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is a water-loving bird of the kingfisher family (Alcedinidae). It is a striking sight because of its contrasting blue and orange colors, but also a very shy species that is rarely seen. Alcedo atthis is the only kingfisher species that occurs in northern Europe including the Netherlands and Belgium, at least the subspecies Alcedo atthis ispida. Most kingfishers live in the tropics.

The kingfisher is a typical fish-eater (piscivore) and is therefore strongly water-bound. Because of its preference for steep walls for nesting, it is often found near running water, where steep banks naturally form as a result of erosion. Still water, rich in fish and vegetation, is also a good habitat. The species is common in most of its distribution area, but is threatened with extinction in some areas.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
