Above the rooftops of Alfama - a view over Lisbon's silent history by Rolf Schnepp

From the Miradouro das Portas do Sol viewpoint in the heart of Alfama, a timeless view opens up over one of Lisbon's oldest neighbourhoods. Terracotta-coloured roofs stretch in gentle waves over the city's hills, interrupted by bright facades, narrow alleyways and the striking dome of the Igreja de São Vicente de Fora, which towers over everything.

The warm light of late day lends the scene a calm, almost meditative atmosphere. The roofs tell of centuries of lived history - of everyday life, change and constancy. In the background, the view opens up to the Tagus, whose calm presence lends air and expanse to the dense architecture.

This picture combines urban structure with southern serenity. It lives from its fine details, harmonious colours and balanced composition, which authentically reflects the character of Lisbon. Ideal for living spaces, offices or places where calm and inspiration are required.

As a canvas print, the motif has a warm, painterly effect, while on art frames it impresses with its clear structure and depth. A picture for lovers of European cities, travellers at heart - and for anyone who wants to bring a piece of Lisbon into their home.
