This picture was taken in the central hall of an abandoned power plant with Art Deco influences. In an industrial setting like this, Art Deco did have more use than you might think. It is an embrace of technology in addition to traditional motifs. You can find these especially in the railings of the elevated sections and the staircase, which in itself is also not conventional. The large window that you don't see in this image provides the nicely lit wall with window sections and a door that can be closed with a metal lattice. The atmosphere of this abandoned site is evident in the decay of the walls and the staircase, which contain different colours. The small cupboard on the right of the image provides a nod to the human aspect. Personally, I think the metal parts blend beautifully with the warm colours that the light brings to the textured dilapidated environment as a whole. The thought that people used to work here brings up fine emotions, although for others they may bring controversy. The soft tones and industrial elements are definitely going to make this work come into its own in a large format in a sleek environment. A true eye-catcher in your interior with a passion for industrial - art Deco - architecture - history.
