In June 2006, APM Terminals (APMT) signed a contract with the Port of Rotterdam Authority for the construction of a new container terminal on the Second Maasvlakte. [1] APM Terminals is part of the Danish A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group. [1] The terminal will reach a maximum of 167 hectares and can grow to a final capacity of around 4.5 million standard containers (TEU). APMT already has a container terminal on the first Maasvlakte and the two terminals will be connected to each other by land.
