This tree stump can be found on the Beekhuizerzand, a sand drift near Harderwijk on the Veluwe. The stump was from a Scots pine and has already partly collapsed into the drifting sand. When I took this photo, it was an overcast grey day. To take this photo, I used 2 Nikon SB700 reportage flash units to lighten up a bit. Both Speedlights were on a small tripod and not on the camera itself, strobist photography is actually what it is called in photography. The strobes were controlled by a trigger set with the transmitter on my Nikon D7200. It causes the stump to detach from the background. Although there are many Scots pines on the Veluwe, there are very few such stumps to be found half buried under the drifting sand.
