About ‘A surprised look’ by Rüdiger Lutz

This black-and-white portrait captures a moment full of surprise and theatrical tension. The subject looks directly at the viewer with eyes wide open, one hand resting on their chest, as if they have just been torn from a train of thought. The slightly tilted posture, the tousled hair and the hazy background make the image appear like a small scene that has been paused in the middle of a narrative.

This work is inspired by the interplay of roles, facial expressions and body language. It is not a traditional, serene portrait, but rather the moment in which a figure comes into view: serious, comical, bewildered and yet very much present. The small details are particularly captivating — the large cuff, the dark lips, the striking eyebrows and the stark contrast between the white blouse and black waistcoat.

The atmosphere is lively, slightly dramatic and at the same time humorous. In an interior setting, this work acts as an unusual eye-catcher: expressive, unconventional and ideal for spaces that are allowed to display personality and artistic tension.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
