About ‘A solitary tree in the mist’ by Peter Heins
This photograph was taken on a misty morning on 6 October 2026. I knew straight away which route I was going to cycle along to capture the most picturesque spots. This involved cycling many kilometres beforehand to scout out the locations, but it paid off now. These were taken along the Mijzerdijk, between Ursem and Avenhorn.

I’ve been taking photographs since 1975. I started out with a Practika for my biology dissertation. After that, I carried on with analogue photography. When digital photography came along, I started out with Olympus, but later switched back to Canon. And that’s still the case today. Via sports photography, model photography and a few weddings, I eventually ended up in landscape photography. And particularly in the northern part of North Holland.
